Can I Get a Payday Loan if I Receive a SASSA Grant?

No — a SASSA grant on its own does not qualify you for a payday loan with eKasi Pay Credit. To be approved, you must be employed with a regular, verifiable salary paid into a South African bank account. The National Credit Act requires us to confirm affordability from a regular income, which a grant alone does not provide.

Why a grant alone isn't enough

Grants are intended to support essential living costs and are not a salary. Responsible, NCR-registered lenders must check that you can comfortably repay from regular employment income. A SASSA grant by itself does not meet that requirement, so the application cannot be approved.

What you do need

• To be 18 or older with a valid South African ID.
• To be employed with a regular, verifiable salary paid into your bank account.
• To pass a credit check and affordability assessment.
