    Understanding Credit Bureau Listings

A credit bureau listing means your unpaid debt has been reported to a credit bureau. This affects your credit score and your ability to obtain credit.

When does eKasi Pay Credit list you?

Under the National Credit Act, we send a Section 129 default notice first. You have 10 business days to resolve the matter. If no resolution is reached and at least 28 days have passed, your account may be listed.

    Listing statuses

    • FINAL_NOTICE — Default notice issued, account being listed
    • HANDED_OVER — Account handed to debt collection
    • BAD_DEBT_WRITTEN_OFF — Debt written off as unrecoverable
    • ABSCONDED — Customer could not be located

How long does a listing last?

All listings remain on your credit record for one year from the date of listing.

    How to clear a listing

    1. Settle your outstanding debt in full
    2. Email support@ekasipaycredit.co.za to request a clearance certificate
    3. We will update the credit bureau to reflect the debt as settled
    4. The listing will be removed or updated to show the account as paid
