If your loan has been handed over to a collection agency, your point of contact is now the collections company — not eKasi Pay Credit directly. Respond to them promptly, cooperate to agree an affordable repayment plan, keep records of all communication, and make payments as agreed. Engaging early prevents further escalation and legal action.

What to Do When Your Loan Is Handed Over to Collections

If your loan has been handed over, your point of contact is now the collections company — not eKasi Pay Credit.

    Why has this happened?

Your loan was overdue for an extended period. Despite our attempts to reach you, we were unable to arrange repayment, so your account has been assigned to a registered collection agency.

    What you need to do

    1. Respond to the collection agency — They will contact you via email, SMS, or phone. Respond promptly.
    2. Do not contact eKasi Pay Credit for payment arrangements — All repayment discussions must be made directly with the collection agency.
    3. Cooperate with the collector — They are legally required to treat you fairly. Work with them on an affordable repayment plan.
    4. Keep records — Save emails, note phone calls, and keep proof of payments.
    5. Make payments as agreed — Missed payments may lead to legal action.

What happens if you do not respond?

    • The matter may be escalated to legal proceedings
    • A court summons may be issued
    • A judgment may be entered against your name (stays on record up to 5 years)

The collection agency is there to help you resolve the debt. The sooner you engage, the sooner you can put this behind you.

If the collector is acting unlawfully, lodge a complaint at www.debtcollectors-council.co.za.

Understand your rights when a loan is handed over and what to expect during the collections process.
